We left Wyeburn at 6:20 a.m. and withing 8 km where in the "real" prairies. The biggest climb all day was getting from Hwy 1 to Hwy 39 - ie the ramp from one to the other.
So we put in a day today (Thrus) that would choke a horse. Here are some of the numbers. 265.75 km (a record for all of us), 9 hours 27 min. 53 seconds on the bike, (a record for me), 28.1 kph (another record for me), 477 m climbed (not a record for anyone – we’ve been through B.C. eh?) and here is the clincher 8421 calories (certainly a record for me). Now you may wonder how we did this. Well the first 2.75 hours we painfully into the wind and we only got 44 km done. We then stopped at Rouleux (for a prayer meeting) and when we got back out on the road the wind had totally changed and was at our backs and remained there for another 7 hours. And it was a wind. Gust up to 50 kph and consistently above 35 kph (to be honest you could do 25 kph without pedaling). So we made the best of it. OK it is a wind assisted record and so wouldn’t count in the Olympics but quite frankly who cares – we did it.

A lack of suitable camping also kept us going until we got
to Carlyle where the camping was still pretty poor but after 265 km you stop
being picky.
For those of you that care (i.e. my family) my rear end was
pretty good all day – so a victory over “Brother Ass” I would say.

It is the late edition because we got in late and internet was pretty hard to find.
