What Sabbath means to a cyclist

So we took a Sabbath today - at least as much as cyclist crossing Canada take.  That means we only did 129 km and we didn't get up until 6:15 a.m. (normally we are up around 5 to 5:15 a.m.) We were on the road about 8:30 a.m (normally we are on the road before 7 a.m.).  We were off the road shortly after 3 at a great camp area called "Sunset Oaks" on hwy 201 in the bottom east corner of Manitoba.

The first 2 hours were into the wind so a bit of a drag.  But most of the rest of the day was wind aided althought not right at our backs.

Here is the data for today - 129.59 km  - 6 hr and 2 mins and 0 secs  - 251 m climbed, 3209 calories used and 21.5 kph.

The people at the camp gave us the R V site for free because we were raising money for charities.  What a kind gesture. Peter and Michelle Friesen are the owners so if you are ever in the Stuartburn area of Manitoba be sure to give them your business.  It is a very cozy and well run park. It even has a hot tub which Warren was in before you could blink.

We started in full rain gear this morning but after a few hours it wasn't needed and the rest of the ride was in vey nice weather.  As we were approaching the camp a very black cloud came up behind us and chased us down the road.  I must admit it was incentive to push on fast to the camp.  We had just arrived when it caught us - I, however, was on my bed resting and listening to the rain.

Most of southern Manitoba is a Bible Belt and can you believe it even the Walmart in Winkler is not open on Sunday - I suspect these small town people put it to Walmart re. how they would enter their town - I  love it.  Why can't bigger cities give Walmart more rules for how they act? Sorry for this minor rant against an employer who has the money to treat their employees well but chooses not to.
